Today’s post is going to be about the pros and cons of being a writer. As a writer myself, I have experienced the benefits and difficulties of being a writer.
I was unsure at first, was I really one? Could I become one? Well first off, being a writer means you have to know how to write, it doesn’t need to be perfect, you just need to know how to. And Second, you need to love writing, not in a forceful way, but in a way that you enjoy doing it and/or has been something easy for you to practice.
If you plan on becoming a writer, this post would definitely balance it all out for you!
I am going to talk about the different pro’s and con’s of being a writer, why you should become one, and the things that come along with it.
PROS:
1. Influences creative thinking and improves communication skills.
Writing helps you understand the importance of needing creativity and inspiration in our lives, this influences our thoughts not only in writing but all aspects of life. This benefits your thinking and motor skills which will eventually help you in communicating and understanding better.
2. Writing is the best way to unwind.
Writing in journals can destress and relax your mind, it gives arise to your imaginative thinking that can calm you down. All the same, if you enjoy writing as a hobby, it can be beneficial to reduce stress.
3. It’s the one thing you CAN get better at.
If you consider to practice writing as a skill, its proven that once you do, you can get better at it! Once you begin to write and explore your mind and follow your imagination while penning it down, this helps improve your writing. Merely writing a page a day is enough to better your writing in a short amount of time. You cannot fail at writing.
4. Beneficial for life.
Once you come into the habit of writing it’ll never truly leave you, this makes it beneficial for the time you need writing in your life, like writing emails, researching for essays or even writing a book. Writing can be useful even after you no longer have a reason to practice it.
CONS:
1.Constant need for inspiration.
One of the things a writer is judged by is his creativity, and to fuel his creativity, he needs inspiration. All world-renowned books and famous because of the authors idea and the way he penned those ideas down. One of the struggles of being a writer is finding inspiration, which is often very hard as you need to be extremely patient to catch hold of any inspiration for your story.
2.Competitive.
Like all hobbies writing is exceedingly competitive, often new writers keep comparing themselves with popular ones. Keep role models is all well and good, but comparing your writing to theirs is completely different than using it as inspiration. Writing make you more competitive as only the finest ideas are considered the best.
3. Writers Block
A writers worst enemy. Writers block is something all writers get stuck at if they keep comparing themselves to others. All writers experience this often which is a crucial time to take a break and rewind. Writers block can really make you frustrated and annoyed, but it is a must to calm yourslef as it takes you no where.
4. Its not for everyone
Writing doesn’t come easily to everyone, its pretty hard to master unless your writing is genetic (like mine) then it doesn’t really matter. Writing takes a while to come naturally and so its not for everyone. You cant expect to be a good writer without sincere effort and a lot of patience.
